Ducks are going to the National Championship, Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl, General Conference was great, and Seattle fans are still wiping tears after their thrashing received by "DA Bears"!!!How is that for an opening statement. I hope to expound on all of those thoughts.
Saturday was again another one of those days (as I have alreay stated) when it was great to be a Duck fan. I have to say it was about mid-way though the first half before I was near my sattelite radio www.xmradio.com to see that OR was thrashing ASU 21-3. It went downhill from there and by the time the second half started I found myself in front of a TV to see the remainder of the thrashing.
Everyone of my teams were involved in blowouts this weekend. Sunday the Cowboys got off to a slow start but ended up blowing out rookie Vince Young and his Titans. I like Vince Young a lot I think he is a first class guy and it is too bad he is being thrown into the position of starter this early in his career...(keep your eye on Vince and Matt Lienhart who played each other in the National Championship last year and will be both starting for their respective teams this sunday). It was good to see T.O. haul in a few long passes from Bledsoe but the man of the hour in Big D is TERRY GLENN!!!! Because of double coverage on T.O. Terry is now s wide open as your Momma's kitchen.
I really enjoyed the Seahawks getting spanked last night. Let me explain because I already know there are about 5 people who will read this and immediately their blood will begin to boil. After the Super Bowl last year all the Seahawks could do was complain about how they has been cheated by the officials and they were the real National Champions. Well they had a chance to prove that this year and they have yet to put some money where their mouth is and prove to the world that they were the better team. They got what a team who spends more time complaining in lieu of playing deserves! Way to go Bears...something inside of me wants them to go all the way.
General Conference from what I hear was incredible (Kim and Rachel said it was "Off da chain" quote end quote) but then again...they weren't in any of the services! So why did I ask them? Who said conference was about church...I garuntee half those attendees this year didn't give a rip who was preaching the commercial filled services they just wanted to cast a vote for a resolution that never even made it to the conference.
This brings me to my second point concerning GC...One more year before I will open my mouth to speak anyhting regarding my postion of resolution 6.
Until 2007 may the conservatives dream of a TV free organization, the liberals of a TV in every room of their house and the rest of us that everyne would just get along!
Love to you all

Oh my god... I am so mad about this tv issue. Where can I find a more conservative state? Being the licensed minister that I am, I feel that tv is not the issue here. It is the degradation of our entire movement! In Jesus Name. We need to bind together, Bro. Nicky and pray for our state.. mmmm!
Nick,
Your last paragraph tries to make it sound like you are neutral regarding the tv issue, yet the rest of your blog makes it clear you have no problem watching tv... especially if the ducks are on it.
Don't pretend to straddle the fence any longer. It's a yes or no issue.

Step up to the mic and state your full name please.
Just because I don't turn my head when in front of a TV doesn't mean I think the UPCI should advertise there.
Thank you though for establishing my position on this issue.
Nick,
You said: "Just because I don't turn my head when in front of a TV doesn't mean I think the UPCI should advertise there."
So are you trying to say that you are against the UPCI advertising on TV? This fuzzy statement still sounds like you aren't trying to take sides on this important issue.
If you come out with a clear definition of your position your readers won't have to come to their own conclusions.
Holiness minded in OR.
Just keep winning souls and striving to keep your state and district as holy as possible.
My position on what you feel is an "important issue" will not effect either of our salvations but will drive a wedge between us. In being mindful of the scripture which states, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for bethren to dwell together in unity" I choose not to run around stating my opinion and making huge issues out of things that really won't effect me. To add more fuzz to your already "fuzzy important issue perspective" of me...no matter what happens @ GC 2007 in FL I will have a smile on my face, love my brother and continue to work in the end time harvet which God is pouring out in my state. THAT (my anonymous posting holiness minded friend in OR) is what it's all about.
in love
nick
If we advertise on the internet.. what is so different with TV? Do you not believe in internet advertising Anonymous? Is that what you choose you to remain anonymous?
Nick,
YES, IT'S IMPORTANT
By the tone of your comments, I'm disappointed to read that you don't feel that resolution #6 is as important as I do. No, it may not affect my salvation, because I have already made up my mind that I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes (Psalms 101:3), but it will most certainly affect the harvested souls to whom you refer. How seriously do you think they will take their Church's teaching against tv when the UPC endorses tv advertising at the same time? Not hardly! Not only would that discredit the Church, but it would also endanger their souls. Revival and evangelism are about getting souls into the Church, but it takes holiness to keep them there, and that is just as important!
Hebrews 12:14 - "Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" - Sounds like a pretty big issue to me... Not only is this a holiness issue, but as the GenConf06 floor also concluded, this is a huge threat to the very unity to which you are referring. As you already mentioned Psalms 133:1, unity is important, right?
Some may not see this as a direct holiness issue right now, but does anyone think about where this road leads? If TV advertising now, then TV broadcasting next, and so on. The trend should be getting closer to God, not the opposite way.
Proverbs 22:28 commands us to "Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set." Is this not important, also? Someone is trying to remove some landmarks in the UPC...
MAIN POINT
I am not necessarily trying to win an argument here, all I want is to understand your views on something that will affect you, me, and thousands of others. If you can't do that, then you can't hold it against your readers for evaluating your blog and lifestyle and coming to their own conclusions. Whatever it is that you believe about this resolution, don't you feel strongly enough about it to want to share it with others?
IN CONCLUSION
If you really just don't care that much about this whole topic, but you'd rather discuss your favorite sports teams, go ahead. But as for me:
Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ..."
In love, peace, and righteousness
"Iron sharpeneth iron"
Uhh...
I am not "Holiness Minded Oregon", but I did wonder, when this blog is labeled "A short peek into the life of a apostolic preacher", how an apostolic preacher could "find himself" in front of a TV for a complete second-half football game? Is this the "peek" you are talking about: How that apostolic preachers can preach against TV viewing, but still find themselves watching it??
Consider that where your treasure (passion) is, there your heart will be also.
Sorry - but this came through in your blog. Did I misread it?
A-non
Sorry to disapoint you all...I most times don't turn my head while enjoying dinner at Applebees or Red Robin especially if my favorite team is playing. If that makes me a bad example to all apostolics then please forgive me. If my interest in sporting events causes my brother to miss out with God then I will deal with that on judgement day.
If neither of you do those things I respect that. This blog is not about downgrading anyones lifestyle. However, both of the above posters were quick to judge me because I involve myself in things that you feel are contrary to what I should preach and don't blog about things that are "holy" all the time.
There are a few things in life that I enjoy...spending time with my wife, golfing and football. God has yet to convict me to the place where I remove any of these things out of my life.
Contrary to what you might think I respect your concern and opinion. I am sure you know that I could have deleted your post (as I did delete some) but chose to leave them in place. Thank you for taking the time to share.
I am still puzzled as to why you won't sign your name to your post. If you are "not ashamed of the gospel" then stand up and sign your name.
Thank you for the clarification.
